Winter Wonderland - Save the Date

You are invited to our 2nd Annual Winter Wonderland family event on Tuesday, December 14th. Join us for a night of lights and holiday treats. Take your picture with Santa for $5 and help support YES Prep NMS. 

Hey Knight families it is that time of the year, filled with joy and cheer. We will be kicking off winter break with a spirit week December 13 – 17^th.

 

Grade 7 Only - Science Fair Update:

The science fair will be held on December 15-16, 2021. We will select winners to move onto the district-wide Science Fair competition. Your young scientist will need to bring their completed projects and presentation boards by Tuesday, December 14^th to participate in our school competition. We have been working on them in class and are excited to see the results! I Mr. Floyd thanks you for all the help you have given your student! Semester Ends December 17th! 

As winter break approaches, we get closer and closer to the end of semester one. In order for students to pass the semester they must receive a semester grade of 70 or higher. As a reminder our reassessment policy states that all students may have the opportunity to reassess formative assignments up to a grade of 100 and summative grades up to a 70. Teachers provide opportunities for students to reassess during class throughout the quarter. Once the semester ends, students will no longer be able to re assess for assignments in Quarter 2. Please review Schoology grades with your student to ensure that they are completing assignments and reassessments as available so that their semester grades accurately reflect all the work they have put in! 

Changes to Reading Intervention Class 

Select students in 6th-8th grade who need additional support with reading fluency and comprehension are enrolled in a 50-minute reading support class during the school day. Based on the results of MAP testing (Dec. 1-7) and reading fluency tests, students may have a schedule change starting in Semester 2. 

8th Grade ESSER Tutorials Next Week 

There will be ESSER tutorials as usual next week for those students who attend Mondays and Tuesdays.  There will NOT be tutorials on Wednesday due to early release.
