Dear YES Prep Families,  

Yesterday was the last day of school for the 2020-2021 school year, and what a year it has been! While it was yet again a year not without challenges, it was also an exciting year with much to celebrate. From launching two learning programs (online and in-person) to welcoming seniors back to the big stage at Senior Signing Day, it was undoubtedly an extraordinary year. We are full of gratitude for how you and our students have persisted through this unprecedented time and we thank you for trusting us with the great responsibility of educating your children and for being such valuable members of the YES Prep community. 

As we look to the new year, we are starting school on Monday, August 16, fully in-person, and focused on addressing any learning loss due to the pandemic. We cannot wait to safely be together again with our students, families, and staff.  

Over the summer we're going to finalize our plans for reopening, and we will proactively share these updates with you throughout the summer. For now, please know that we will continue to follow CDC guidelines as we welcome students to reconnect with classmates, teachers, and school staff on campuses this August.

Important Dates Reminder  

• June 11 – Report Card grades for marking period M4 available 
• June 14 – Curbside meals distribution begins

Accessing Final Grades/Report Cards 

Report Card grades for marking period M4 will be ready and available June 11 at 4 p.m. in Skyward Family Portal here. M4, SM2, YR and GPA have been calculated according to our current YES Prep Grading Policy. 

If you have any questions regarding the topics above, please reach out to your campus front office between the hours of 9 a.m. and 12 noon, Monday through Friday. 

Accessing STAAR Results 

Families will be able to access detailed information about their child’s area of strength as well as any gaps in learning by reviewing STAAR and STAAR EOC results.  See the following instructions to access the state’s Student Portal for testing results starting on the dates listed on the table. 

To access test results: 

1. Visit https://texasassessment.gov/ 

2. Enter the child’s date of birth and their Unique Access Code.  Press “Log in to Student Portal” 

3. If you do not know/have the student’s Unique Access code, click on “Find My Access Code”.  You will need the student’s first name, date of birth, and social security number or S number.  If you need the S number, please contact the front desk at your child’s school.

Back to School Forms: Save the Date 

YES Prep Public Schools is pleased to welcome your student(s) back for the 2021-2022 academic school year. All back-to-school forms will be launched through the Skyward Family Access Center for all new and returning students beginning July 19, 2021. You will receive an email on this date to open the window for re-enrollment. The deadline to log in and complete your back-to-school forms is August 6, 2021. 

Bus Transportation Survey  

Fill out this survey to sign up for bus transportation this coming school year. As we prepare for the upcoming school year, student safety is our top priority. The YES Prep Transportation Department is following updated cleaning guidelines that have been shared by local and state officials. It is important that we know which students want to use bus transportation when we return. We have created this survey, which will allow you to sign up for transportation. We will use the information from this survey to assign bus routes to students that meet the guidelines listed on our website to ensure that all safety measures are being taken. 

Schoology LMS Launch for School Year 2021-2022 

We are excited to share that K-12 students will use a YES Prep-provided laptop as part of their daily in-person learning experience in the 2021-2022 school year.   

We will be launching Schoology as our Learning Management System (LMS). Schoology will serve as a digital companion to the in-person teaching and learning environment. Leveraging technology in combination with the aligned, active, and rigorous learning that is part of our YES Prep program, will help to ensure that your students graduate college-ready.

YES Prep Elementary Imagine Learning Summer Contest: 360 Minutes in 6 Weeks 

To maintain K-2 learning momentum, YES Prep will be hosting an Elementary SPARKS Summer Imagine Learning contest with the goal of each K-2 SPARK completing a total of 360 minutes of Imagine Learning over the course of 6 weeks this summer. Please visit our website for more details about the program and to print out the Imagine Learning SPARKS usage tracker form. Students can participate online from June 21-July 30.  

YES Prep Summer Reading 

Elementary Summer Reading with SORA: To maintain K-2 learning momentum, our YES Prep Elementary SPARKS are able to soar into summer reading with FREE access to thousands of books in English and Spanish through their YES Prep device.  We’ve recently launched access for all students to Sora, a digital reading app, at YES Prep!  To learn more about how your YES Prep Elementary SPARKS is able to Soar into Summer Reading with Sora!, please click here to learn more and obtain step-by-step directions to access SORA. 

Secondary Summer Reading: We are excited to announce our summer reading recommendation list for rising students in grades 6-12. These selections were made with input from the English team and are thematically liked to multiple units of study that students will learn during the 21-22 school year. In keeping with the diversity of The Atlas, texts were selected based upon their representation of BIPOC authorship and relevant, rigorous content.  

We are also excited to share that our students can access these texts as well as other books and audiobooks of their choosing on the Sora app on the web or on mobile devices.  Students will learn how to log into Sora the week of June 7 in classes.  You can view the login how-to videos on our YES Prep Library page. 

Curbside Summer Meals  

Curbside meal distribution will be available DAILY beginning June 14, between 9 - 10 a.m., Monday – Thursday.   

The following YES Prep campuses will have curbside meal distribution: 

Brays Oaks, East End, Fifth Ward, Southeast Secondary, Gulfton, North Central Secondary, North Forest Secondary, Northside, Northline, Southside Secondary, Southwest, West, White Oak

Summer Family Communication 

We have been consistent in our Friday communication with you to ensure alignment in getting your students the support they needed throughout this school year. We want to share with you our summer family communication plan so that you know where to look to stay informed through the summer months.

Estimadas familias de YES Prep: 

Ayer fue el último día de clases para el año escolar 2020-2021, ¡y qué año ha sido! Aunque fue una vez más un año lleno de desafíos, también fue un año emocionante con mucho que celebrar. Desde el lanzamiento de dos programas de aprendizaje (en línea y en persona) hasta dar la bienvenida a los seniors en el gran escenario de Senior Signing Day, sin duda fue un año extraordinario. Acceso a los resultados de STAAR

1. Ingrese a https://texasassessment.gov/ 

2. Llene la fecha de nacimiento de su hijo(a) y su código de acceso único. Haga click en “Log in to Student Portal” 

3. Si no sabe o tiene el código de acceso único de su estudiante, lo puede encontrar haciendo clic en “Find My Access Code”. Formularios de regreso a la escuela: Marque la fecha

Encuesta de transporte en autobús 

Llene esta encuesta para transportación para el nuevo año escolar. A medida que nos preparamos para el nuevo año escolar, la seguridad de los estudiantes es nuestra máxima prioridad. El Departamento de Transporte de YES Prep está siguiendo las directrices actualizadas de higiene de las autoridades locales y estatales. Es importante saber que estudiantes quieren usar el servicio de transporte escolar. Por esta razón, hemos creado esta encuesta que le permitirá inscribirse para el transporte. Usaremos la información de esta encuesta para asignar rutas de autobús a los estudiantes que cumplan con los requisitos enumerados en nuestra página web  para garantizar que se tomen todas las medidas de seguridad. 

Lanzamiento de Schoology para el año escolar 2021-2022 

Nos complace compartir que los estudiantes de K-12 usarán una computadora portátil proporcionada por YES Prep como parte de su experiencia diaria de aprendizaje en persona en el año escolar 2021-2022.  

Lanzaremos Schoology como nuestro sistema de gestión de aprendizaje. Schoology servirá como un compañero digital para el entorno de enseñanza y aprendizaje en persona. Aprovechar la tecnología en combinación con el aprendizaje alineado, activo y riguroso que es parte de nuestro programa YES Prep ayudará a asegurar que sus estudiantes se gradúen listos para la universidad.

Concurso de verano Imagine Learning de las primarias YES Prep: 360 minutos en 6 semanas 

Para mantener el impulso de aprendizaje de grados K-2, YES Prep organizará un concurso de verano Imagine Learning para nuestros estudiantes en la primaria, con el objetivo de que cada estudiante de grados K-2 complete un total de 360 minutos de Imagine Learning en el transcurso de 6 semanas este verano. Lectura de verano con YES Prep

Estas selecciones se hicieron con aportes del equipo de inglés y son del agrado temático de múltiples unidades de estudio que los estudiantes aprenderán durante el año escolar 2021-2022. La distribución de comidas para llevar DIARIAMENTE iniciará el 14 de junio, de 9 a 10 a.m., de lunes a jueves.
